494 Q What are your present duties?

A I am driver for the General's Aide, sir.

495 Q Do you remember the taking of the Dachau Concentration Camp?

A Yes, sir, I do.

496 Q Were you with General Linden and his party on that day?

A Yes, sir, I was.

497 Q Who is the General's Aide that you drive for?

A Lt. Cowling.

498 Q Will you tell me in your own words what happened after you entered this camp?

A Well, after we got inside there was a German officer a Red Cross man and another soldier came out to the party that was there, the General's party, and the Red Cross man talked English and said that this officer wished to surrender the camp to the Americans.

499 Q After General Linden and his party reached the main gate to the stockade proper, which was inside the walls of the camp, what did you do?

A I did not go in at first with the General and the rest because he sent me back to regiment to get some more men. After I arrived one fellow said, "Do you want to see a sight?" And I walked up and there were all these prisoners around the gate hollering and shouting. I just walked back for a little while. After that some other
