A Rene J. Giraud, 1st Lieutenant, 1325565, Infantry OSS Detachment, ETO.

(The witness was fully advised of his rights under the 24th Article of War.)

20 Q You were interned at and present in the Dachau Camp when the American forces liberated it?

A That is right, sir.

21 Q Did you witness the death of any of the prison guards?

A No, sir, I did not witness the method of death or shooting.

22 Q Did you witness the mistreatment of any of the prison guards?

A No, sir.

23 Q Where were you when the American troops came?

A I was inside the camp, in fact, in the hospital. I went to the gate and through the crowd to get to the commanding officer. By that time everything was over except the prisoners trying to get out.

24 Q Do you remember the commanding officer's name?

A I am afraid not. There was a brigadier general from the 42nd or 45th Division.

25 Q What day was that?

A That was on April 30th, approximately at 2:15 in the afternoon.

26 Q Can you give me an estimate of the time you met these two brigadier generals with reference to the time the camp was liberated?
