The Computer Science Bioinformatics Option
How do I add the computer science Bioinformatics Options?
- Review the information at the Bioinformatics Web site (http://www.uml.edu/college/arts_sciences/bio-cheminformatics).
- Talk to Dr. Georges Grinstein (grinstein@cs.uml.edu), the Bioinformatics advisor, in Olsen 301 to determine if the option is
right for you.
- Make sure that you satisfy the requirements for joining
the computer science major (even if you already are a computer science major). These requirements are listed here.
- Fill out a Declaration of Major/Minor/Second Major or Change of Major form.
- In the top section, fill in your name and student ID.
- In the middle section, check the line to the left of “Declaration of Concentration/Option (subplan).”
- Write “Bioinformatics” on the line to the right of “Declaration of Concentration/Option (subplan).”
- Take your completed Declaration form to Dr. Grinstein in Olsen 301. He will sign it to indicate your acceptance into the Bioinformatics program..
- Bring the initialed form to the Dr. Heines, the CS Undergraduate
Coordinator, to have him sign it.
- Take the signed form to the Registrar’s Office.
