Openings / Announcements / Reminders

Hackademy (as posted on Piazza)

Hackademy is a 4-day, invitation only, event sponsored by Dyn, Inc.(see http://dyn.com and http://dyn.com/hackademy) in Manchester, NH, that provides an opportunity for selected college students to attend technology related workshops and learn new and exciting technologies during the first half of the event.  During the second half of the event, students will use what they learned to compete in teams developing apps that can be deployed.

This year’s event is scheduled for May 19th to May 22nd.  This year, we are also planning to offer paid summer internships to a couple of students attending Hackademy 2016.  On Sunday, May 22 after students present their apps, some of our managers will arrange to meet with the students who the managers feel have the skillsets that are needed for the interns to be successful at Dyn.  On that day, Dyn will make internship offers for summer.

For further information, please see the websites mentioned above and the formal letter to Prof. Wang from Ali Rafieymehr (a UMass Lowell alumnus) that I have uploaded as UML_W_Hackademy2016.pdf.

If you meet the requirements listed at http://dyn.com/hackademy and would like to take advantage of this fantastic, local opportunity, I strongly encourage you to apply and I would be happy to nominate you.

Request for Help on a DifferenceMaker Project

I need some front end work done not that the back end is all set for the most part. Do you still teach the GUI Programming class? Someone that knows JavaScript would be very welcome on our team. We offer a great experience for our team members to grow and practice the things they know and learn what they dont. Here is what the site looks like so far, as you can see it needs quite a bit of work to make the user experience easy and enjoyable.
